Saul Gelbart was raised in Orange County and graduated in 1974 from Sunny Hills High School. A degree in Economics - with Distinction - followed in 1978 from San Diego State University, where Mr. Gelbart was also elected to Omicron Delta Upsilon, the National Honor Society for Economics. Mr. Gelbart was awarded his Juris Doctor degree (Dean's List; Moot Court Honors Board) from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1981 and immediately thereafter commenced the practice of law in Orange County.
Mr. Gelbart is a Certified Family Law Specialist, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and a Fellow of the International Academy of Lawyers. He has lectured for continuing education to lawyers, most frequently on the issues of evidence and trial practices. Mr. Gelbart has also served the Superior Court on many occasions as a Special Master, Discovery Referee, and Judge Pro Tem.
Mr. Gelbart is married and has three children. He enjoys sports, reading and travel.

Justice Sonenshine is uniquely qualified to preside over family law arbitration, mediation consultation and case evaluation. She was a family law trial lawyer and one of the first California Certified Family Law Specialists. Justice Sonenshine was appointed to the Orange County Superior Court in 1981. She was the Presiding Judge of the Family Law Panel and supervised the Settlement Conference Program and Law and Motion Calendar until her appointment to the Court of Appeal in 1982. She was the "go-to" justice on family law matters, authoring hundreds of family law cases and initiating the State's first Appellate Mandatory Settlement Conference Program. Sitting on assignment to the Supreme Court, she authored the Court's decision recognizing unwed fathers' custodial rights after the mother relinquishes the child for adoption. Justice Sonenshine was an Amicus co-counsel on a landmark California Supreme Court case determining "marital dissolution trials proceed under the same general rules of procedure that govern other civil trials." After retiring from the bench, Justice Sonenshine co-founded and managed an international Mergers and Acquisitions firm and in 2004 became a principal in Sonenshine Enterprises, a private equity company. She is now associated with JAMS as a private judge.
